Acrylic/Latex on Wood

Reconstruction of neighborhood entrance sign.

Evan was contacted by a local community to refurbish their severely aged sign. Much of the integral components to the original piece were waterlogged, rotten, or otherwise damaged beyond use. Using a multitude of techniques the sign was brought back to be the warm reminder of home it signifies.

Using the palette from an impactful structure nearby, Leslie provided a choice color option to reinvigorate the sign. For the next several weeks Evan took over the reconstruction process. A hand poked tracing layer was created from what visually remained of the image before sanding and cleaning the surface in entirety. After placing the new outline, the task became painting both sides of the sign simultaneously with the intention of being indiscernible from the opposing face.

Mounting locations and hardware were refurbished as needed.
